Program Faculty

Jen Hadfield

Poetry

Jen Hadfield was born in Cheshire in 1978 and has published two collections of poetry with Bloodaxe Books. Her second, Nigh-No-Place, was shortlisted for the Forward Prize in 2007 and won the T.S. Eliot Prize for poetry in 2008. She lives in Shetland, where she recently delivered a six month readership program with the Shetland Library. In her sometimes chaotic creative life, she considers walking, and foraging for wild food and material for her visual art equally as important as her language-centered practice. She loves ceramics, and is slowly creating an installation of porcelain limpets. Her poem 'The Kids' (from her third poetry manuscript, Byssus) recently won 1st prize in the Edwin Morgan International Poetry Competition. Audio samples of her work are available at www.poetryarchive.org. She blogs intermittently at rogueseeds.blogspot.com.
