Who is eligible to apply for the PTP stream of programming?

Eligibility varies depending on the discipline of the program, but it always requires formal training and/or relevant professional experience, as this is a continuing education program. Applicants should be emerging practitioners seeking applied experience and training within a residency/performance-based arts institution.

What does the training component involve?

Participants will engage in both practical instruction and applied learning through program projects. Depending on the program’s discipline, these may include technical workshops, lectures, shadowed sessions, and hands-on training.

What kind of support or mentorship will be provided during the program?

Participants will receive mentorship, instruction, and support from faculty, guests and Banff Centre professional staff. Given the training-focused nature of the program, mentors will be highly engaged to ensure the program’s learning goals and deliverables are met and the faculty to participant ratio is be among the highest available at Banff Centre.

What is the breakdown of program costs?

Standard Scholarship: Covers 100% scholarship covers tuition fees. Additionally, a 50% scholarship offsets meals and accommodation costs for the duration of the program. 

Canadian Indigenous scholarship: 100% scholarship covers tuition fees, meals, and accommodation costs for the duration of the program. 

 

Can I pursue my own projects during the program?

The PTP stream of programming is focused on technical training and professional development. This is not a program for working on personal projects, participants are here to engage in applied learning and gain experience across a range of production areas.

Can I apply for PTP programs more than once?

Yes, you can apply for PTP programs multiple times or for different programs across disciplines.

How will participation in a PTP benefit my career?

Participation in the PTP offers emerging practitioners invaluable real-world experience that strengthens their professional portfolios and broadens their industry networks. With a high faculty-to-participant ratio, participants benefit from personalized instruction and have the chance to form strong professional connections with their PTP cohort, esteemed faculty, and participants in related arts programs. Additionally, some PTP participants will complete the program with shareable work to enhance their professional portfolios.
