2020 may have halted lives around the world but for activist Chris Hill her career and passion for fly fishing still holds strong. After filming Where I Belong, Hill and her partner Greg tied a knot (that was not attached to a fishing line) – got married and added Sammy, a golden retriever, to accompany them on fly fishing trips.
Hill’s dedication to conservation has led her to the new title of Sierra Club’s Senior Director of Our Wild America Campaign, leading outdoor access and outdoor equity work. Not only has Hill found her passion in wild forests and rivers, she is the first black woman to lead the Sierra Club’s legacy campaign in its 129 year history!
For anyone wanting to get into fly fishing Hill says, “practice really does make near perfect – keep practicing and troubleshooting out in the river. You will pick it up and learn a lot along the way.”
