The National Youth Orchestra of Canada (NYO Canada) proudly presents the 2024 Horizons Tour.

Led by Canadian Music Director Naomi Woo, the Horizons Tour marks a triumphant return to Western Canada.

Repertoire highlights include beloved orchestral classics by Sibelius and Ravel, alongside a captivating performance of Rautavaara's Flute Concerto by the 2024 Canada Council Michael Measures First Prize Winner.

About Naomi Woo

NYO Canada is delighted to announce the groundbreaking appointment of Naomi Woo as its first female Music Director for the 2024/2025 seasons.

A bilingual conductor with extensive experience, Woo has collaborated with major orchestras across Canada and will serve as the Artistic Partner for Orchestre Metropolitan and Assistant Conductor for the Philadelphia Orchestra in the coming seasons. Recognized for her impactful career, including prestigious awards like the 2022 Canada Council for the Arts Virginia Parker Prize, Woo brings her expertise to lead NYO Canada.

With past roles as Assistant Conductor of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and inaugural Music Director of Sistema Winnipeg, Woo aims to inspire and instill optimism in the musicians, fostering a love for classical music and a sense of belonging in the larger artistic community.

Serving as a vital bridge between music, education, and a thriving musical career, NYO Canada aims to launch the next generation of Canadian orchestral musicians and champions emerging composers and artists, contributing to the flourishing of classical music appreciation across the nation.

Our rich heritage is vividly realized through the impact of our alumni, who now stand as professional musicians in today's Canadian orchestras!
