As faculty for the fall programme her presentation will provide an overview of her experimental art practice with a focus on her collaborative community engaged project: Meeting for Teas: On the Road to Decolonization. With an impressive exhibition record spanning two decades, Crane's studio art practice pushes the boundaries of experimentation, combining analogue and digital processes to create thought-provoking visual narratives. Her work has been showcased in prestigious galleries and institutions worldwide, from the Houston Centre of Photography in the USA to the Singapore International Photo Festival and the MOMA in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Her recent work "Tea with Anna" involves the use of home-brewed tea-based photographic developers to process film and photographic prints, resulting in stunning and unconventional visual outcomes. Crane's mastery of her craft, coupled with her deep understanding of the historical and cultural contexts of photography, promises to inspire and ignite your imagination.
As a professor and chair of Photography and Digital Imaging at The University of Saskatchewan, residing on Treaty Six Territory and the traditional homelands of the Metis, Crane brings her wealth of knowledge and experience to the forefront, offering valuable insights into the art world.
