My name is Amy McPherson, I am a Metis designer living in Winnipeg Manitoba. I have been beading, quilling, practicing and learning as many traditional forms of art from the local indigenous people of the Canadian prairies for over twenty years. As I became more advanced with my designs I enrolled myself in the Fashion Design and Apparel production course with MC College where I Graduated with an academic achievement award and presented my first collection incorporating beadwork, quillwork, caribou tufting, leathers and furs. Being raised in the prairies I have found inspiration in my designs from the nature around me, along with the seasonal changes comes new ideas, colors and inspiration. My goal for my designs is to incorporate ancient forms of art with new and modern silhouettes and styles.
My design is created to educate people of the resilience of the Métis Nation and Canada’s untold history of the Half Breed Script System.
"My people will sleep for one hundred years, but when they awake, it will be the artists who give them their spirit back." - Louis Riel
