Three trolls try to decide which performances to attend during the Banff Arts Festival before they turn to stone.

Banff Centre’s production of The Hobbit, directed by Kevin McKendrick, ran from July 20-30, 2000, at the Donald Cameron Hall Amphitheatre. Written by J.R.R. Tolkien and adapted by Kim Selody, the performance was a co-production with Calgary’s Shakespeare in the Park and Mount Royal College’s The Conservatory.

Designer Linda Leon produced colourful sets, props, and costumes that brought this whimsical version of Middle-Earth to life. The trio of the toughest trolls on this side of the Misty Mountains were portrayed by Laurel Lemley (Tom the Troll), Len Harvey (Bert the Troll), and Mark Holmes (William the Troll).
