The Henriquez Studio in the Leighton Artist Studios
This playful “studio in a boat” was inspired by the architect, Richard Henriquez’s, desire to create a link with the past by bringing an old artifact – a boat –to Banff. It meets the requirements of a writer’s studio.
The exterior of this refurbished fishing boat, the Elsie K, has been restored to its original lines, while the interior has been refitted with a built-in workspace, small galley, bunk area and washroom to fulfill the needs of artists. The boat, which sits on a timber-framed cradle, features a small deck. It is protected by a pitched plexiglass roof.
