Banff Centre receives $2,012,705 from the federal government in support of arts programs
Banff, Alberta, May 21, 2014 -- The Banff Centre has received a total of $2,012,705 million in federal government funding through the Endowment Incentives Matching Program of the Canada Cultural Investment Fund ($1,76 million) and Canada Arts Presentation Fund ($250,000 over two years).
The funds will be used to support the development of talented artists and their work, as well as the presentation of extraordinary performances in theatre, dance, music, film and media, and the visual, literary, and Indigenous arts.
“The matching fund program and our donors are critical in allowing us to bring talented artists from Canada and around the world to participate in Banff Centre programs,” commented Carolyn Warren, vice president, arts. “This substantial contribution will have a tremendous impact on artists who create and perform here.”
Blake Richards, Member of Parliament for Wild Rose, announced the funds on behalf of the Ministry of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages during a gathering of Bow Valley arts leaders at The Banff Centre on Wednesday May 21st. Guests at the event were also given a tour of a rehearsal in progress for an upcoming interdisciplinary performance.
