Alongside faculty and participant concerts taking place in this summer’s Classical Indigenous Music Residency and Jazz and Sonic Arts Residency programs, we invite you to experience artworks, new commissions and events presented by Walter Phillips Gallery during Gather Listen Hear. Join us for an activation of Rebecca Belmore’s iconic work, Ayum-ee-aawach Oomama-mowan: Speaking to Their Mother at Two Jack Lake hosted by Wanda Nanibush; the premiere of a newly commissioned score, Background Music by Raven Chacon; a talk by T’uy’t’tanat Cease Wyss, Anne Riley and Lisa Myers in Mike MacDonald’s Butterfly Garden; and the presentation of the commissioned audio-based work with accompanying visual scores, Dawn Chorus, Evensong (Bow River Valley) by Lou Sheppard at Banff Centre’s Shaw Amphitheatre, with a graphic-score making workshop hosted by the artist and participatory chorus co-led by Sheppard and Pamela Hart.
