Zoe Whittall's third novel, The Best Kind of People, was shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize, is being adapted for film by director Sarah Polley, and was named Indigo's #1 Book of 2016, as well as one of the best books of the year by Walrus MagazineThe Globe & Mail, Toronto Life, & The National Post. Whittall won a 2018 Canadian Screen Award for best comedy writing with the team from The Baroness Von Sketch Show, and has written on Schitt's Creek, Degrassi, and other shows. 

Whittall’s short fiction and arts criticism has appeared in Granta, The Walrus, The Believer, Cosmonauts, Hazlitt, and others. She has published three volumes of poetry, most recently a new edition of The Emily Valentine Poems, which poet Eileen Myles blurbed with, "This reminds me that I would like to know everything about this person.” Her next novel, The Spectacular, is forthcoming with HarperCollins.

Zoe Whittall was faculty at Banff Centre's 2020 Spring Writer's Retreat.
