New board members appointed to Banff Centre

Alberta’s government has appointed a new chair and public members to the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity board of governors. 

For more than ninety years, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity has served as a hub for artistic and creative development. To support its important work, Alberta’s government is appointing Paul Baay as the new chair of the board of governors of Banff Centre, along with five new public board members: Brinna Brinkerhoff, Lori Paine, Naomi Schmold, Pinder Sandhu, and Myron Tétreault. 

With significant qualifications in non-profit and community organizations, arts leadership and the corporate sector, the new board members bring exemplary expertise and experience in finance, human resources, law, risk management and strategic planning to their positions.

Banff Centre is a public, board-governed post-secondary institution specializing in arts and culture. 

  • The Board of Governors of The Banff Centre consists of: 
    • a board chair appointed by government 
    • the president of the Banff Centre 
    • five public members appointed by government 
    • nine members appointed by the board, including one board-appointed member nominated to the board by the federal minister responsible for the National Parks Act 

The appointment of the new board of governors follows the dissolution of the previous board in October 2023. At that time, the government appointed Paul Baay as administrator to maintain board duties and to review the centre’s internal processes and policies.
