How to Festival - Director's Cut

Now that you've purchased all your tickets to the 40th annual Banff Mountain Film & Book Festival, here's the inside scoop on how to maximize your Festival experience and squeeze in everything you can!

Mountain Exhibitions - don't miss this great opportunity to check out the latest in adventure photography and original artwork. See page 36 of your Festival Program for shows on and off Banff Centre campus and join us for the Mountain Gallery Hop!

Festival Café - bigger and better for 2015, the Festival Café, located on the lower level of the theatre complex, is the place to go for a quick bite. For a longer lunch break, visit the special pasta buffet in the Kinnear Centre or Banff Centre's Vistas Dining Room.

National Geographic Workshops - who can argue with free workshops from one of the leaders in the media industry? Everything from how to get your story published to exploration and adventure grants, these popular workshops are an annual fave. See page 35 of the Festival program for more details.

The Crown Traverse - OK, so you missed out on your Tommy Caldwell ticket but not all is lost. Join ultra-runners Steven Gnam, Mike Foote and Mike Wolfe as they share their amazing 800km journey across the Crown of the Continent. $35 tickets available at The Juniper Hotel or by calling 1.866.551.2281. Bring Your Own Water Bottle (BYOWB) - Banff Centre has an environmentally friendly, no bottled water for sale policy, so bring your hiking bottle and fill it up at the water station on the Eric Harvie Theatre patio November 6, 7, & 8. 

Meet Your Hero! - leverage the opportunity to chat with your favourite mountain heroes at one of our many book signings (page 46 of your Festival Program). Alex Honnold, Kit Deslauriers, Kelly Cordes and many more!

Mountain Marketplace - the latest outdoor gear, awesome books including Festival finalists and Happy Hour at the Deuter and Alpine Club of Canada booths. What could go wrong?

Festival Flashbacks - remember that film from a few years ago that was so great and won that award? Now's your chance to revisit those films that still hold strong in the memory banks. Festival Flashback screenings can be purchased in person or online at The Lux Cinema Banff. 

Basecamp...Live! - get a chance to see world renowned climber Jules Lines in a live podcast interview with Gripped editor Brandon Pullan. With special musical guests Tyler and Ben from Said the Whale! And while you're at it, subscribe to our podcast series on iTunes.
