MONTREAL, QC, June 7, 2017 – The evenko foundation for emerging talent is celebrating two years of existence and to mark this important anniversary in style, it is launching the first Musika contest with a grand prize worth $25,000.
“We are very pleased to celebrate the evenko foundation’s second anniversary with an exciting project like the Musika contest which will get a lot of people involved,” said Anne-Marie Withenshaw, the evenko foundation’s spokesperson and board member. “With Musika, the evenko foundation is giving young artists the chance to make their mark, while at the same time pursuing its primary objective of contributing to musical education, development and accomplishment of talented up-and-comers.”
With Musika, the evenko foundation is appealing to emerging artists 18 to 25 years of age who live in Québec and either sing or play music. To register, each participant must submit a 90-second video that, after being evaluated for authenticity and minimal quality, will be posted on social media. The public will then vote for their favourite artist. A $25 registration fee is required.
“We thought it was important to create a special event to celebrate the evenko foundation’s second anniversary,” added the Chairman of the Board of the evenko foundation, Roman Oryschuk. “The evenko foundation is very proud to contribute to the development of emerging talents and to provide concrete support to young artists.”
Registration starts June 7
The selected finalists will participate in a grand finale presented at the Astral October 12 and streamed online. The registration period is from June 7 to August 31 and the voting period from September 1 to September 22. Finalists will be announced September 25.
The winner will enjoy a two-week residency at the prestigious Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, as well as an opportunity to perform on stage at either an evenko or Équipe Spectra event, a grand prize worth a total of $25,000. Via multiple initiatives, the evenko foundation for emerging talent is actively involved in the community in order to stimulate and develop young people’s interest in the performing arts by offering them scholarships as well as training in dance, music, voice, acting and humour.
Since its creation in 2015, the evenko foundation has donated over $920,000 to support 44 organisations and educational institutions in Quebec in the form of both musical instruments, financial support and its Arts-Studies program. Its main fundraiser, Le Show de la Réussite, also raised the impressive sum of $306,555 when it was presented at the Place des Arts last April.
